Empowering Students Through Reusable Sanitary Pad Production

Access to menstrual products is essential for students to continue their education with dignity and confidence. To support this, Partners in Education Ethiopia, in collaboration with Bahir Dar University Textile Campus, provided hands-on training for gender club leaders from Abchikili, Gezehara, and Gimjabet high schools on producing reusable sanitary pads.

Hands-On Training for Practical Solutions

During the training, participants gained valuable skills in:

  • Material Selection: Identifying cost-effective and comfortable fabrics suitable for reusable pads.

  • Hygiene Maintenance: Learning proper cleaning and storage methods to ensure safe and long-lasting use.

  • Manufacturing Techniques: Exploring simple yet effective sewing methods for durable and absorbent pads.

Beyond Skill-Building: A Step Toward Menstrual Equity

This initiative goes beyond technical skills. It is about ensuring that students have access to affordable menstrual products, reducing barriers to education and promoting dignity. By equipping gender club leaders with these skills, the program fosters self-reliance, sustainability, and community impact.
